Janice Webber, PT, CAFCI, is a traditionally trained registered physiotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. Her practice uses traditional methods such as exercise programs and manual therapy as well as non-traditional methods such as acupuncture, manual therapy, and connective tissue therapies, craniosacral, visceral manipulation, and vascular therapy.
She has over seven years experience in the field of women's health including problems such as urinary stress incontinence, urge incontinence, pelvic pain, and nocturia.
She also treats children's urinary incontinence problems as well as very young children who present with such problems as being hard to settle, poor sleepers, colic, and urinary difficulties.
Janice added Tai Chi to her repertoire of physiotherapy methods as a means of better addressing the problems of balance and coordination, lack of strength, and arthritis in an aging population.
Janice had her own chronic pain/illness physiotherapy practice in Vancouver, BC, for over ten years. There she developed her interest in the treatment of women's and children's health.
In addition, Janice had the fortunate experience of working overseas where she was able to develop her non-traditional treatment techniques.
Susan Hirshberg
Susan Hirshberg is a Reiki Master and Craniosacral Therapy practitioner who also holds a Master's degree in Animal Behavior. Susan spent over a decade in the nonprofit world doing research and education on a series of public interest projects before retraining to become an alternative health practitioner five years ago. In her practice, Susan focuses on Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki, and her own modality, Wise Heart Therapy. Her gentle, effective treatments all work with the body's own innate internal healing capacities to ease a wide variety of issues including pain, chronic illness, trauma, depression, insomnia, headaches, TMJ, learning disabilities, and generalized discomfort.
Susan also provides specialized treatments for children and the elderly; taking time to really listen to the client and making sure to personalize the treatments to match the client's comfort level at all times. Sessions with children involve lots of toys and kids can move about or be engaged in activities that they bring from home. Elderly clients, and indeed all clients, are treated with warmth and respect for both their body and their intelligence, and encouraged to find whatever positions are most comfortable during treatment. As is standard for Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy, clients are not requested to disrobe for treatment.
Susan's scientific and non-profit training are of particular use for the education and research nonprofit which we (Janice Webber and Susan Hirshberg) founded: the Atlantic Craniosacral Therapy Society. Her skills in data analysis, research design, communications, outreach and administration and her commitment to integrity, scientific rigor and social responsibility bring a unique perspective to her work, both on the client and organizational level.
